PhD: Are you fascinated by how life first adapted to Earth’s most extreme environments? We invite motivated candidates to join our research group at Bose Institute, Kolkata, to pursue doctoral studies in the field of archaeal stress biology. Our lab investigates the molecular strategies that enable extremophilic microorganisms to survive and function under harsh environmental conditions. Focusing on Sulfolobus acidocaldarius, a thermoacidophilic archaeon of the TACK superphylum, we explore stress response systems such as heat shock proteins, toxin-antitoxin modules, and other adaptive mechanisms. Our approach combines biochemistry, molecular biology, and genetics to uncover the evolutionary resilience of ancient microbial life. If you're passionate about fundamental microbiology and enjoy multidisciplinary research, we encourage you to get in touch regarding potential Ph.D. opportunities. Interested candidates may contact directly to Dr. Abhrajyoti Ghosh at aghosh78@gmail.com.

RA/Postdoc: We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified postdoctoral candidate with a strong background in protein biochemistry, biophysics, and genetics. Prior experience in protein structural analysis is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be encouraged to apply for independent postdoctoral fellowships such as DBT-RA, NPDF, CSIR-RA, among others. The project focuses on investigating evolutionarily conserved type II toxin-antitoxin (TA) systems in archaea, with particular emphasis on the thermoacidophilic archaeon Sulfolobus acidocaldarius. Our research aims to unravel the regulatory mechanisms of these TA systems in stress adaptation using a combination of structural, biochemical, and genetic approaches. Interested candidates are encouraged to get in touch to explore potential postdoctoral opportunities. Interested candidates go through our research profile and can contact directly by email to Dr. Abhrajyoti Ghosh at aghosh78@gmail.com.
